February, 2006
February 4, 2006 - Following Katharine Kubichan’s appointment as President Elect in September 2005, Kubichan was then elected as the President of UNA-SD for the 2006 business year. The elections were open to the public, UNA-SD members, and members of the board.
An avid supporter of UNA-SD since 1999, Kubichan has held positions on the board of directors and has been responsible for Marketing, Public Relations and Community Relations since 2000. “I am delighted to serve the Board of Directors, our members and the community; it truly is an honor to be elected into this position. Our chapter is one of the most active in the nation and I plan to work with my fellow colleagues to further develop existing programs and expand our outreach.”
Kubichan is seeking to implement new business structure and processes to the organization while focusing on supporting and meeting the newly established 2005 – 2015 UN Millennium Development Goals. “During my term, I feel our organization is responsible for furthering these Goals on a community level, partnering with other organizations to enhance our educational outreach programs that support UN efforts such as our International Water Day event, UNA International Career Day, World Refugee Day, International Women’s Day, World AIDS Day and UN Day.”
