Youngest President in UNA-USA 61 year history reelected for her commitment to restructuring, innovating, and building a stronger presence in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, February 10, 2007 - The UNA of San Diego elected Katharine Kubichan as President for a second term. UNA San Diego, one of the oldest non-profits in the county, nominated Kubichan to continue with internal restructuring and expanding the Chapters outreach via creative and innovative campaigns.
Kubichan has sat on the UNA Board since 1999 and has chaired San Diego's UN Day annual fundraiser for over five years. As the youngest President within the network of UNA-USA nationwide, Kubichan dedicates her efforts towards building public educational events and symposiums that attract new sectors of the local international community.
The chapter unanimously nominated Kubichan for her zeal and experience. She was commemorated with a special honorary Award of Service and Excellence because of her firm's, Kubichan Communications, LLC contributions to the Chapter.
As the former Chair of the annual fundraisers, she has brought in over $120,000 in donated services and funds for the organization. "She went beyond her contractual duties and gave us a fabulous event, helped UNA to build new business relationships in the community, and truly gave from her heart,"says former UNA-SD President Karen Longstreth.
Kubichan has decided to funnel her passion and energy into international relations, setting an example for the younger generations. "I like to think of my numerous leadership roles within UNA San Diego over the years to be an example of how to get involved with the community and meet other like minded professionals outside of the work place," states Kubichan. Kubichan has helped recruit young professionals and undergraduates in order to strengthen San Diego's UNA chapter and build a more diversified board and membership base. Within the last five years of Kubichan's recruitment process, the "face, energy and drive behind the chapter has really changed," she says.
"It is vital that we continue working together in the global community, not just tolerating each other's differences, but truly understanding and respecting each other. If we take it to the next level, it will make a big difference," states Kubichan.
