UNA San Diego President, Katharine Kubichan, attends WFUNA luncheon honoring newly appointed United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-Moon.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, May 4, 2007 - Katharine Kubichan, President of Kubichan Communications and the United Nations Association of San Diego was invited to this year's World Federation of United Nations Association Luncheon fundraiser on May 7th at the University Club in New York City to welcome the new Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon. This benefit will raise funds for the World Federation of United Nations Associations and its program of work.

Kubichan attended this luncheon as a guest of the United Nations Association (UNA-USA), as she was re-elected this year as the youngest President of the UNA-USA chapters in its 61-year history. It is an accomplishment for Kubichan to be invited to this benefit, as well as meet with the newly elected Secretary General. Kubichan has dedicated her efforts as the President of UNA-SD to promote its educational and community programs as an instrumental body of global awareness in San Diego; this visit helps solidify UNA-San Diego's mission for expanding its relations beyond the UNA-USA network, and toward new developments with WFUNA and the UN.

Katharine Kubichan, a 1994 Political Science graduate of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) strengthened her international marketing career in business development, marketing and public relations at QUALCOMM, Corsair, and later through her firm, Kubichan Communications, LLC, working on global, humanitarian initiatives including HIV/AIDS, and issues related to the environment and poverty. She has utilized her experience in marketing to shape her interests in order to pursue global development. Her firm offers various services to the non-profit sector as well provide comprehensive internship programs for college students. Kubichan recently attended the 2006 Eleanor Roosevelt College Banquet as a keynote speaker, and coordinated the annual International Career Day at UCSD.

The UNA San Diego chapter is enthused for Kubichan's opportunity to meet Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. In a brief discussion before Kubichan's departure to New York City, Ravi Shah, UNA-SD Director of Operations, "Katharine will serve the UNA-SD a great purpose in attending this luncheon with Ban Ki-Moon, she deserves this honor greatly, as she has proven herself as a perfect representative for this organization's mission." Kubichan will also meet with UNA-USA Headquarters.
